Dining In The Dark by Winefest Des Moines & The Harkin Institute

I was absolutely elated to be a tiny part of Dining in The Dark this past November when The Harkin Institute joined forces with Winefest Des Moines to host an enlightening event.

Guests were treated to a delightful three-course dinner paired with fine wines. Adding an intriguing element, attendees wore blindfolds during one of the courses, inviting them to rely solely on their senses other than sight to savor the flavors of the dishes and wine selections. This immersive experience provided participants with firsthand insight into the significance of universal design in addressing the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities in both professional settings and daily life.

Crafted with care by Purveyor Catering, each course delighted the taste buds, complemented by a wonderful selection of wines curated by sommelier Abbe Davidson.

Beyond offering a mere dining experience, the evening served as a platform for promoting inclusivity, fostering understanding, and cultivating a heartfelt appreciation for the invaluable contributions made by individuals with disabilities to our society.
